Authentic Portuguese Cuisine by Executive Chef Fatima
Alexis Kavvadias , an Executive Chef from Europe was born in
Greece, worked in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He was
employed at the Athens Hilton before he came to the United
States. In 1972, he opened his restaurant under the name of The
Greek Market and became Alexis Taverna in 1980. During this
time, Chef Alexis has created innovative Greek dishes added to
his already fabulous traditional menu.
In 1988, he married Fatima, an Executive Chef and Pastry Chef
born in Portugal. As a Portuguese wine connoisseur, Fatima is an
expert in Portuguese and European cuisine and pastries as well.
It was during this time that with their collaboration, what used
to be a deli café was transformed into to an elegant fine dining
restaurant now famously known as Alexis Greek Restaurant. On
numerous occasions, Chefs Alexis and Fatima have been both
critically acclaimed by food critics and journalists. Operating
at the same location for 35 years, Alexis Greek Restaurant has
continuously served excellent authentic Greek cuisine and
pastries. Since 1988, the fusion of Mediterranean and Iberian
Peninsula culinary was introduced by Chef Fatima, specializing
in Portuguese cuisine. Chef Fatima travels to Portugal every
year to brainstorm with the best chefs in order to create great
recipes. Her passion for European pastries show the wonderful
selections of desserts, offering a delightful choice of fine
Portuguese delicacies to her patrons for the past 20 years.
During her travel, she goes to vineyards and wineries to
discover the exquisite wines to be poured and served at the
feasts amongst families and friends at Alexis Greek Restaurant.
